Course Description – Family First Aid
This comprehensive course has been created to give you the knowledge to help a baby, child or adult with both minor and major first aid incidents as well as giving advice on how to manage a range of common illnesses and conditions.
Duration: Approximately 2 to 4 hours
Access: This online course can be completed on any PC or mobile device. You can study at your own pace, and log in and out as often as you wish
Assessment: Self checks after each section of the course and an optional end of course multiple choice assessment
Certification: On successful completion of the end of course assessment, learners can download a certificate as evidence that they have passed the course
Course content:
- Assessing an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take
- Understanding the importance of PPE and Infection Control
- Helping a baby, child or adult who is unresponsive and breathing normally
- Help a baby, child or adult who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
- Help baby, child or adult who is having a seizure or febrile convulsion
- Help a baby, child or adult who is choking
- Help a baby, child or adult who is suffering a heart attack, angina attack or stroke
- Help baby, child or adult who is bleeding
- Help a baby, child or adult who is suffering from shock
- Help a baby, child or adult who is suffering from anaphylactic shock
- Help a baby, child or adult who has burns or scalds
- Help a baby, child or adult who has a suspected fracture
- Help a baby, child or adult who has a head injury
- Help a baby, child or adult with a foreign body in eyes, ears or nose
- Help a baby, child or adult with an eye injury
- Help a baby, child or adult with a bite or sting
- Help a baby, child or adult who suffering from poisoning
- Help a baby, child or adult with a suspected asthma attack, allergic reaction, meningitis, sepsis, fever
